We develop a novel e-learning technology that enables a frequent, real-time interaction between students and instructors. Our target use case is the maritime search and rescue e-learning software developed by BMT Cordah Ltd. for national coast guards. We report on the prototype implementation of our technology, based on the RTF (Real-Time Framework) middleware. The e-learning software becomes deployable as a service accessible from worldwide locations via the Internet. Course sessions can be started dynamically on demand while RTF automatically and transparently takes care of the necessary distribution and communication and assures that the e-learning service runs on appropriate resources which provide the capacity, latency and bandwidth required by the application service. This allows the e-learning provider to conduct courses by requesting resources on demand, instead of expensive own resources hosting (slides).
