Network Researcher

Full Research and Development Position in Network Measurement and AI-assisted Security Analysis

The INET research group seeks an Internet Measurement Researcher/Junior Scientist for joining our project team. The position is part of the BMBF project AI.Auto-Immune and is expected to contribute to data-centric monitoring of Internet security.

You are expected to design and implement measurement processes and tools, as well as AI-assisted analysis of the resulting mass data. You closely collaborate with our research and development team in Hamburg, our TU Dresden partners but also with the global Internet community.

The ideal candidate will have thorough expertise and practical experience in

  • network security and measurement
  • open communication standards
  • state of the art methods for software development and testing
  • distributed software projects with an open source preference

Specific experience in any of the following skills are considered a plus:

  • Large-scale data analysis with Polars or Pandas
  • Network anomaly detection
  • AI algorithms and statistical analytics
  • Formal background in mathematical modeling

This temporary position is currently limited until February 2028 (with options for extension). The salary is according to Entgeltgruppe E13 TV-L. A PhD option is part of this offer.

Minimum qualification: Master in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or closely related fields
