In this talk, we will explore how Information Centric Networking (ICN) based approaches can be enhanced and adapted to enable Delay Tolerant Networking (DTN) style communications. Looking at an exemplary scenario and corresponding use cases, we will argue why ICN is in principle well-suited for providing communications with some sort of "disruption-disconnection-tolerance". We will then review key research challenges in this area and provide an overview of a selected set of ICN-based solutions that address some of these research challenges. Further, we will dive deeper into one concrete technical solution for optimizing delay-tolerant ICN-based data dissemination. The talk closes with a discussion on remaining open issues and an outlook on future work.
