The actor model of computation has gained significant popularity over the last decade. Its high level of abstraction combined with its flexibility and efficiency makes it appealing for large applications in concurrent and distributed regimes. With the C++ Actor Framework (CAF), we contribute a C++ actor programming platform for resource-efficient and performance-critical distributed applications.

In this talk, we will report on recent activities and focus on two aspects of CAF: (1) the configurable, high-performance scheduling infrastructure, and (2) the runtime inspection architecture serving as a first building block to support distributed work balancing, and online as well as post mortem debugging. Furthermore, this talk presents an interactive inspection shell for distributed actors.
